Navigating Safety Ratings

There are two main authorities for evaluating how safe a car performs under various test conditions. They are the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). More information about their safety rating systems is below.

The IIHS has cars crash into barriers at different points and rates of speed. Cars that perform the best earn a Top Safety Pick distinction. The worst-performing cars are rated as poor for safety. The NHTSA puts cars through three collision tests to see how safe the driver and passengers would be in a crash. They award stars for the worst and best performance on a scale of one to five. Cars earn different ratings based on each crash test.

When it comes to stocking reliable and secure cars with excellent safety ratings, you are bound to find the ideal car to test drive at Honda of Frontenac.
